Flashback

I had to call this post a flashback because I made this card awhile ago. My computer is finally fixed and if I could just find the time to make something new, perhaps I could post it. As some of you know I also have another blog. I have been busy making jewellery to submit to Bead Trends magazine, so that is where I have been.

I used some little yellow bicycle DP {at least I think that is the company, correct me if I am wrong} Prima Flowers {of course} and some ribbon I got from Taylored Expressions. I also used some stickles and pearls, Nestabilities and CTMH stamps.

I am still here!!!

I know I have been a bad blogger. My computer has been down for almost a month so I have been using my husband's laptop. Unfortunately it has none of my pictures on it. I got the darn thing fixed last night, so I should have it hooked back up within the next couple of days.

I will be back!!

Custom Cards

My Chiropractor is a great guy, I spend a lot of money to see him every week and he supports my business in return by ordering cards at every special day that comes. I try to make more than one at a time because you never know when you are going to need another one. It is always good to have a few ready to go.
This occasion he needed a Birthday card for his beautiful wife. I made the two on the right so he could choose, and the thanks card was another order from a friend for her mom to thank her for letting us have preschool at her house until the real location was restored after a flood. The pictures truly don't give them justice. They are so much more vibrant in real life. Either way you get the idea.
Thanks for visiting.

Fun Florals...

I had to go to the Scrap Yard {my Lss} yesterday to restock my flowers. I used so many on these new cards that I had just about depleted my inventory. I spent almost $100 on flowers. I know that seems excessive but I do have to make a whole bunch more cards for the flower shop I supply in Dewinton. I need to go see her within the next week or so, bring her new cards and see what she has left from the last drop off I made.
I really fell in love with this paper and these colours. I used them quite a bit and I am sure I will continue using them for a little while longer. I did get some purple stickles. I realized that was just about the only colour I did not have so I got a couple and I am going to use them with the new purple flowers I got yesterday.
The stamps are CTMH, Prima Flowers, and some misc. stickles, gems, ribbon, and card bases. The cards are 5X5 and I die cut the sentiments with Nestabilities.
Thanks for coming again :)

A couple more...

So today is the day after the trade show. I must say I was highly disappointed, there was not much traffic. I got a few contacts for future customers, but not much in sales. I did get a lot of compliments on my different products, it is nice to hear that you are good at what you do, I could have really used the money. Oh well, you win some, you lose some. It still remains to be seen, whether or not I won this one. lol.
I added a couple more pictures of my latest creations. I am looking forward to Tuesday this week, I am going to restock my flower supplies at my local LSS {The Scrap Yard} I love that place. I used most of a containers of flowers when I made all these cards. I "Need" more. lol.
I think I may have to get some purple Stickles, it seems to be the only colour I am missing.
See you soon!!

Happy Mother's Day

Well the big show is tomorrow and here are a couple of the little gems I hope to sell while I am there. With everything that has gone wrong around here lately I am really hoping for a good turn out and great sales. I don't think I have ever spent as much money on fixing things than this month. lol. If you look at yesterday's post you will see pretty much how I made these cards as well. My computer has been crashing so I have no idea how long I have before this thing goes... again!
Thanks for coming

Fun Floral Birthdays

I am participating in a trade show this weekend. I have been working on the jewelry part of my booth for about 3 weeks but only got started on my cards yesterday. I made 24 so I will have a few things to show you {finally} over the next few days. I found this really great paper in the discount rack at my LSS. I just fell in love with it. I can not believe that I never noticed it before. Maybe it was because I spend most of my time looking at the paper in the discount bin hoping for a treasure. lol. I guess I finally found one. I have a few products from CTMH on these. The cardstock, stamps, pin, and ink. The ribbon is from an old ribbon share, I got them over a year ago now. I used some stickles, gems and dew drops. The crowning touch is of course these new Prima flowers. They are gorgeous, and I NEED more!! lol. I hope my LSS still has some left.
I started with some 5X5 card bases. I cut out the paper and adhered it to the bases. I added ribbon, the flowers on top of that, and added a few little gems or dew drops here and there. I die cut some bases for my sentiments with my Cuttlebug and Nestabilities. I stamped them added foam squares to the bases and attached them to my cards. I then added a hint of stickles for some bling.
I guess that is about it!!
Thanks for coming by :)

You make my Heart Flutter

Just a quick post. I have been having a terrible time with my computer and I seem to have a bit of a block for new projects. At least I have this sweet little card I made for Valentine's Day. I embossed this butterfly with glittery embossing powder. It is such a pretty creature and the sparkle makes this card. I love this stamp from CTMH it is the stamp of the month this month which means that it will not be available after this month. I think this paper is the "That's Amore" kit from CTMH, of course I don't have any of this stuff by me so I can't check. lol. The ribbon is from the dollar store and I have to say it is one of my favorite "frilly" ribbons. The brads are regular brads that I heated with my heat gun and dipped in glittery embossing powder. This technique is great for making custom brads... I feel another tutorial coming on...

Bye for now...

Goodbye To a Friend

My dear friend Elaine lost her Husband David only seven short weeks after being diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. He was a kind and loving friend, father, grandfather and great grand father. Elaine and I have been scrapbooking friends for almost 3 years. We have learned a lot from each other and we have become great friends despite the age difference. David would always come out and help us in with our bags when we came to scrap at their house. He would chat with us and sneak some treats that Elaine prepared from the kitchen. If it was winter he would come out and brush off our cars and once he even started them for us so they would be warm when we left. He was the ultimate gentleman and the love that he and Elaine shared was truly inspiring.

Here's to you David!! See you again someday.

Antiqued Luggage Tag Tutorial

This is the finished tag. All antiqued and ready to use.
You can see the original tag next to the completed one.
These are the Close to My Heart colours I used to make this look the way it does.

I used a makeup sponge to apply the different colours of ink.

I started by inking the edges with Bamboo.

I followed up with some Desert Sand around the edges and lightly sponged on some of the middle.
I then used this spray from CTMH, it is made to clean your stamps but I figured it would work since it was wet. lol.

I sprayed just enough to dampen it lightly, but not soggy.

I then crumpled it a little. Don't crumple it too much because you will be adding more ink and you will crumple it more later. Doing it this way will give you different kinds of distortion.

(Great Pic!!lol.)

Then I used the Brown Bag ink and added a little around some of the edges, and did a little veining where some of the crumpling marks stood out the most.

I spritzed it again, still not too much, and crumpled it more forcefully this time to get stronger marks.

If it looks like this when you have crumpled it then you are doing great. :)

Now you want to sponge AND rub the Chocolate ink. Sponge it on some of the edges, across the center and rub it on some of the strong folds. I then also took my sponge and rubbed the edges of the tag to make sure there would be no white showing.

I sprayed it one last time, a little wetter this time to help blend the colours. Still, try not to get it soggy. I also crumpled it really well this time. Pretty much as crumpled as you can get it, squeeze it tight in your hand.

Now you want to use the last colour. The Goldrush. This is the colour that will really give your tag the rich golden colour of burnished leather that you would see on a real antique luggage tag. Apply this colour generously over most of the tag. You will want to rub lightly to really blend the colour, but you need to be gentle since your tag is quite saturated at this point.

I took the chocolate out again and added some more to the tag to "dirty" it up a little more. You can at this point fill in any spots that you feel don't have enough ink and you can dull any spots that seemed too "Gold" as well. Make sure you rub lightly with the sponge and Chocolate ink over the crumpled ridges to really make them stand out.

You have now completed your tag!! Make sure to let it dry completely before you use it on your project. You can also stamp on it to make it more interesting. Use it on a card or on a scrapbook page.

If you have any questions at all please email me at the address on the sidebar. I would love to hear what you have to say about my first ever tutorial so please leave me a comment.

Scrapped Clock!

I always wanted to do a clock. I had found this old dusty discount clock at our neighbourhood Zellers (kind of like Kmart I guess). I think I paid less that $5 and the original price on it was about $30. I think I got quite a bargain!! I used a sheet of paper from the Once Upon a Time DCWV stack. It took me forever to pick out just the right sheet, It needed to look just right in my house. I took apart the mechanism and traced around the edge of the clock on the sheet of paper I picked out. I cut it out just past the edge and once I glued it on {you can use Modge Podge} I used an Emery board [nail file] to smooth out the edges. The edges of the clock were already painted black so that fit perfect. I stamped the numbers with a stamp set from CTMH and let me tell you how hard that was. I am not a hundred percent on the outcome of the stamping but oh well. I added some gold leaf paint to some of the details in the picture and around the edge and re-attached the mechanism. I added a battery and hung it on the wall.
Unfortunately it has never been able to tell time. lol. That is what I get for buying a discount clock. Maybe someday I will replace the clock works and then I will be able to enjoy it more.
Come again soon, I am working on my first tutorial!!

Valentine

The December stamp of the month for CTMH, was this adorable Valentine stamp set. I just loved all the swirls and pretty hearts. It was nice for a change since they always seem to be a whole bunch of hearts and nothing else. This one was just perfect for me. I used some more paper from the Amore paper packet and Tulip cardstock for the card base. I used some sparkles from S.E.I {I think} and the fiber and ribbon was something I had in my stash that I may have found in a dollar store. I used tulip ink for the stamps and I added a few little sparkles with some cotton candy stickles.

I think that is it. I hope I have a chance to put together another card or two in the next day or so since I was so absent for awhile. I am trying to get more on my blogs so that I keep you all coming back.

Thanks for visiting!!

U and ME

I used the same papers as the last card because they were there on my desk and I was getting lazy. What can I say, I am sure we all have days like this.
The chipboard letters are K&Company. I have always loved their products even before I became a scrapper. The ribbon is something I recycled from a gift and the rest is all CTMH.
I hope to be able to come back and post something new soon.

Yes, I know. It's About Time!!

So Valentine's day is soon to be upon us. I had to start my valentine's day cards for the flower shop and for those special enough to me to receive one. Since I am strapped for time as always I won't be able to make very many.
I used CTMH Tulip for the card base and some Amore paper also from CTMH. The stamps, ink and jewels are also all from CTMH.
I hope to be back soon...
